Sausages - A Treat for DH but what to do with them?

Hi
I'm new to money saving and thrift, having recently had my 'lightbulb' moment of how much money I was wasting on sub standard food prepared by someone else!
I do most of the cooking and shopping, and I'm going away for a few days leaving DH alone, so I want to leave him some HM ready meals. (So he won't be tempted to buy takeaway, or worse live on pot noodle!)
I have bought some sausage that was yellow stickered, but have no idea what to do with it! I am on a diet, so never eat it, and before my diet it only featured as part of a fat laden fry up!
I had in mind some kind of casserole but every recipe I have seems to need red wine - not exactly thrifty for us as we don't drink it a lot, so have no left overs hanging about.
Please help! I really want to treat him whilst I am away, and feel daft having no idea what to do with it.

I never use red wine. I just brown the meat, add carrots, onions, stock cube and whatever else I want and pop in oven.0

Hi Daycreamsaver

Sausages ideas please
Sausage casserole
Simple Sausage casserole in the SC
I use one from my slow cooker book which is made with either stock or cider . Oh, and you can't beat champ (mashed potato with chopped spring onions and butter) , sausages, and beans (and a bit of cheese if you feel so inclined!) Heart and belly warming goodness.
Good luck, report back and ill merge this with the sausage thread later on
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Not sure if he would go for it, but I usually make a spicy sausage couscous if I have sausages to use up. Pretty easy...
- Grill sausages
- While they're grilling, fry a bit of onion, garlic and chilli
- Bung them all in a big pot with some lentils (and/or chickpeas if you like) and chopped tomatoes
- Let it bloop like that for about 20 minutes
- In the last 5 mins, make up some couscous in a bit of stock
- Bung it all together
This keeps in the fridge for a good few days.....

WOW! So many ideas and so quickly! with a list like this he's going to be looking forward to me being away a little too much! I think I'll try the curried ones, which sound lovely and let you know his verdict!!Original Debt (July 2010) [STRIKE]£15,518.52.[/STRIKE] (August 2010) [STRIKE]15,145.33 [/STRIKE]. Cook the sausages and make some onion gravy.
Cook some mash and leave it in a container in the fridge.
Leave him some baked beans.
Show him how to reheat a plate of all of the above.

I make a kind of summery sausage casserole
Sausages
Mixed peppers
Onion
Tin of tomatoes - with added chilli, garlic or herbs
Courgettes
Celery
Last 2 are only put in if they happen to be lurking in the fridge, its all about using what you have. Goes very nicely with roasties or can be used with rice/pasta etc
Also an easy one is spicy sausage and bean casserole:-
Sausages
2 x tinned tomatoes
onion
tin of mixed beans
chilli - optional
Also anything else you may have lurking about could be added.0
