Wedding venue in administration help!

Hi there, I hope someone can help on here as I am totally confused. We are due to get married in December and the venue in Scotland has gone into administration on 29 June. So far we paid £1000 deposit. The administrator says the event will still go ahead but I dont trust them as they didnt actually tell me that the venue was in administration - I had to find out on the news. They did however send me a reminder to pay 50% of the fee by 1st July. I didnt pay. They tell me my original contract remains valid so if I cancel now (because I am worried about what will happen and I dont trust them to run my wedding) I owe them 30%. Do I have any rights here?

As the company haven't actually done anything wrong, you do not have any rights yet.

If i were you, i would make any further payments by credit card as then you will be covered for the whole amount by section 75 if the company do go bust.

Your absolutly fine. Don't worry about it.
The administrators have chosen to continue to trade and honour existing liabilities. By doing this they are basically accepting any liability and preventing you losing out.

They could have opted to not honour the 1k deposit in which case you could have cancelled and became a creditor but they appear to have chosen against this.

That is reassuring thanks. But if we still decide to cancel are we still liable for the 30%?
