Ten Pound Christmas

We spend more on a birthday present - mainly because that day is the persons special day.
As to Christmas - we are known as fairly 'tight' parents. We spend no more than £20 on our children (8 & 6 years) and £20 or £10 on each other - set according to budget! This works really well - except the year both DH & I bought each other a chess set..... We still laugh about it now...

He'll be disappointed though as he's already been dropping hints about computer games (£40 that is now £30 over budget). Hehe. I feel quite evil.

My brother is a games nut so I got him to give me a huuuuuuuuge list of games he'd like (as I don't know what ones in his room are his / borrowed from friends / rented etc).
Found one for £12.49 which is £30 on several other sites :T That's him sorted
We are doing a £15 limit each this year, but I usually end up telling father and brother what to get Mum and each other and can stretch the money really far using the net.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
We kinda do something similar for neices/nephews on OH side of family. There are 10 kids altogether inc. ours (5 of them!!) and 5 sets of aunties/uncles so we each buy 2 of the kids a really nice pressie around £25 each instead of them getting lots of little ones off all the different adults!! we draw names out of a hat. There's one couple with no kids so all the couples put a fiver in together and get them a nice present between us! Other adults don't give each other pressies, just the kids. We.ve done this for years and it works well.

I think they are a complete waste of money!
:T I haven't done xmas cards for ages.
I STILL get those 'special' ones off my mum & sis.
They can't afford it either but wont be told
I only send cards to people I wont see at christmas. Although, e-cards are even cheaperSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
oooh... that's difficult... to the exact penny!!! argh...

Does anyone else gift recycle... for example gifts that have sat in the cupboard unused for 12 months get polished up and given to distant family members etc.
If not, then obviously I don't do this either
We're also doing the family gifts for a tenner this year and my OH is having stuff we need for our ski holiday, which has been paid for by matched betting!
