Car Insurance Contract

At the beginning of July I went on Internet website and chose car Insurance, Was sent off to chosen companies website where I re-checked info and tried couple of other options, some increasing rate substantially.

Agreed a rate paid deposit in line with £350 insurance and got E mail confirming purchase of insurance £350.

Week later got paperwork through and Insurance has risen to nearly £500. I have phoned company numerous times and returned E mail three times which they have acknowledge but they claim they can't find the original quote.

The Insurance company are not saying that they reveiwed the quote, or that information on the quote was inaccurate.

Today despite not having returned any paperwork and notifying them that I dispute the figures, they have taken a Direct Debit out of my bank account for the higher amount. This I have cancelled.

Is the insurance company bound by its original offer.
Am i bound by their Subsequent offer,
Should I just cancel and what are my rights can they claim higher premium and cancellation costs.

    Hi

You should have a 14 day cooling off period and so no cancellation charges to pay.

Bit late now, But you should have taken screen shots.

What about confirmation email or the option at the end of the quote to print it out?

Usually quite careful on things like that, Take screen captures of online quotes.

Thing is, some insurers say on their website that, the quotes are valid at the time given but are subject to change after review, if you read the small print!

Well you got the email of the purchase of the insurance, so you agreed that figure they cannot just say its higher now after a week or so without notifying you first, print out your email and send it back to them with a covering letter, and say this is what I agreed too.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

It is possible, that in the small print it may say something along the lines like, subject to review.
If it does, there within there rights, if it does and your not happy, write to them returning all documents of the policy and request them to cancel it with a rebate refund given to you ;)
