Need some advice

I booked a coach for 15 people a couple of weeks ago. which come to around £700 i paid a deposit and it was all settled and i paid the money on the day.

But on the day we had 16 people that were getting on the coach not 15. I told the driver that we had an extra person getting onto the coach and he said it was fine and he took the money that we agreed on over the phone after i told him this.

We were getting picked up a couple of days later but on the way home the driver (a different driver) was demanding more money off of me due to having an extra person on the coach.

Do i still have to pay this even tho I told the driver there was an extra person on the coach and that he accepted the money after i told him there was an extra person on the coach?

Surely you hired the coach rather than a vehicle charged on a per capita basis? If the vehicle was licensed to carry the whole group, I assume that the driver was trying it on.

As above, surely a coach is hired as an entire coach, and not per person??? I've never heard of a coach company hiring per person!

If you paid him, write and complain, and ask for a refund.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I thought that. I haven't paid it yet but they have phoned me a few times saying I have a week to pay it.

I phoned them before off a with-held number and asked them how they take the payments either per-person or coach. He said depending on the people if it is 80%+ it is a set price anything below it is per person. We filled the coach. So if they phone me up again I will be telling them this.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. If anyone else has any advice it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Did you pay the original driver with cash or paid over the phone?

If it were over the phone then you will have a credit or bank transaction to show payment.

If you paid it with cash and the driver has not declared it then its stealing.

I took that to mean that they hadn't paid the extra yet as in the OP they state that they paid the original driver the amount previously agreed.

Ah apologies, i think theres been more than 1 crossed wire.

The OP paid the original driver for the agreed amount. From what they've said, they're only asking for an additional fee for the extra passenger (which the return driver asked for)......not the whole amount again.

    Yeh that's correct.

They are asking me to pay extra ontop of the agreed amount and I paid cash on the day we were picked up.
