Do i have to pay this parking fine?

I am a disabled driver, and went in to a shop (on a private car park) and forgot to display my blue badge. Wrong of me I know, but when I returned to the car some five minutes later I had a ticket.
The ticket was from UKCPS. I know I can appeal, BUT (1) Do I have to pay the fine before appealing (as the fine goes up to £100 if I don't pay within 14 days)? (2) Am I likely to get my money back if I do pay immediately and (3) Is this fine legal if I produce a copy of my blue badge? Many thanks

You owe them nothing. They have no legal status even though they would like to convince you otherwise.
They will threaten you with all sorts of dire consequences if you don't pay but they NEVER happen
    So
    Don't contact them
    Don't pay
    Don't say who's driving
    In fact completely ignore them.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Another scammster on the make ,no don't pay, appeal or write or phone them, expect to recieve at least 5 to 7 threatening letters ,with referrals to debt collector's and court appearance's,just ignore this unenforcable invoice, i googled the company and first to come up was "UK Coloured Pencil Society website" that made me laugh, ignore them.

Why were the UK coloured pencil society giving you a parking ticket?

Was it tastefully done in pastels and delicate shading?

    Hey, calm down!

That's actually hilarious, I never knew that UKCPS share their initials with the Coloured Pencil Society!:rotfl:

    :T

    And in answer to 'parking-fine'
    - you didn't even need to choose that username because you have NOT had a parking fine. It's a parking 'charge' which you must ignore because it's unenforceable. UKPCS are well know scammers, mentioned often on these forums.

You say you 'know you can appeal' - but sadly you're wrong, you can't.

These companies PRETEND that there's an appeals process but there isn't really. They just refuse all 'appeals' because their business is not legit, they provide no service at all, they exist just to obtain money with menaces (their threatening letters).

DO NOT PAY, IGNORE all the debt collector letters, only a mug would pay as it's a scam.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Not as good as PMSL Parking!
  • Thanks for your replies.
I rang CAB and I have been told that I could be taken to court NOT for parking in a disabled place without displaying my blue badge, BUT because I have trespassed on private property.

I DID make a purchase from the retail park, so how can I have been trespassing?

Now I feel really upset and confused. Can anyone help me please?

Complain about that rubbish advice from CAB - in fact their advice to you, as a disabled person, breaches the DDA so tell them so! Complain! Blue Badges DO NOT APPLY on private land and these tickets are unenforceable.

And it's not about trespass either, the only thing any landowner could claim for trespass would be actual consequential losses - which is zero and the parking company is not even the landowner so they would have no cause for legal action.

The CAB are well-known to give duff advice about these tickets, unfortunately.

Google 'private parking scam' and look for forum posts on here, pepipoo.com, consumer action group, all of which will tell you that such private parking tickets are unenforceable trash, whether or not you've appealed already.

Watchdog covered this a couple of months ago, and their legal bod helpfully confirmed just what we tell everyone to do with fake parking tickets(whether they have pretty pictures of your car or not):

    :T:rotfl:

The registered keeper will receive a few debt collector letters telling you to pay, but so what once you know they are just bog roll! Do not panic, do not believe the lies on the letters about Court/CCJs/dire consequences! Debt Collectors have no powers at all, and bailiffs can only be appointed by a Court (if you lost a Court case and then you still refused to pay - can you see that actually happening?).

They cannot just 'apply for' a CCJ, that's not how things work at all.

See examples here of what sort of letters to ignore and be prepared for. Don't bother to actually read their threats when you get the matching threats, instead look at them now so you are ready to laugh when you get the whole predictable set:

To be proactive, if the scam letters get tiresome you may like to also report the company and their debt collectors for harassment:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/en...=03_harassment

But don't forget this is NOT a debt, NOT a fine, just a mickey mouse ticket. The CAB are wrong.

Nothing happens, your credit record is NOT affected, so don't fall for this con. :)

Be angry about their illegal scary letters, tell your friends never to pay a private parking ticket, even if they have broken the car park's spurious 'rules'.

But don't pay it! Spread the word. This ticket is a scam and the letters must be ignored.

    I despair of the CAB.

Absolute piffle from them in my opinion.
