Thanks everyone- its such a minefield- he wasted alot of hard earned cash on a wretched vw polo so we will be avoiding that!
Whilst I do think that VW's reputation for reliability shouldn't be quite as good as it is.....
I have to point out that in car ownership, what your told you need to spend and what you really need to spend are often miles apart.
I owned an Austin Metro at 18 yrs old, the most unreliable car ever made in the UK. Every single garage I went to would try to get money out of me for repairs that didn't need doing.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
