Hi all,

I bought a new car a few weeks back and surprised how dirty the floow well and seats get. I am after a handheld cleaner, something relatively powerful, but wont break the bank.

I am not really keen on the recharable types, and as I am going to use it in the car, it will need to have a 12V plug for the cigerette lighters.

Has anyone got any suggestions???

I am aware these things are no where near the power of a house hold vacum, but I need to get something

A 12v vacuum cleaner is unlikely to be powerful enough, you really do need a handheld mains powered vacuum cleaner.

    They're all much the same....

What on earth are you doing to your car to get it dirty?
I haven't cleaned my interior (apart from shaking the mats off) since late 2008 and it's spotless.

That raises a good point though, get floor mats!! There are some sellers on ebay selling 100% genuine manufacture mat sets at less than half the stealership prices.

The most powerful handheld is the Dyson DC30. It's around £90 but only has a battery life of 6 minutes in between charges.

Do you not have access to a 240v vac? I find that I can spend 10 minutes each week vacuuming my clean car, or 3 hours every 2 months to clean out my dads car properly. If you buy deep ribbed rubber mats you can lift the mat and dirt out in one go.
