Well the Ombudsman for my case against HFC agreed with the adjudacator so they now have to recalculate my account as if I had not taken out the PPI along with £150 for distress. However this was agreed on 01/09/10 but as yet I have still not received even a letter from HFC  Surely they cannot withhold payment as it is legally binding since it has been through the FOS
  • I've have got no where with HFC. My claim was rejected on the ground that the ppi was optional even low i was told i needed the ppi to be approved the loan. I sent a letter in on the 10th to appeal and given them 14 days to respond phoned today to get an update and was told that the letter was not forwarded to the correct department until the 18th which means i now need to wait another extra week before they probley reject my claim again. Can i start a claim with the fos while i'm still waithing for a reply (as the letter i had rejecting my claim was a final letter) or am i better waiting another week. I feel that i am not going to get anywhere with HFC what do you think i should do?
    Thanks for you help

    Hiya
They do normally have 8 weeks, but if you hear nothing at all by then your in your right to continue to make your complaint to the FOS.

You could contact the fos to ask on your best avenue to take now, due to some bank freezing investigating new ppi complaints for the time being and just in case, see what they suggest from here.

Good luck, please let us know how you get on, cheers.

Hi I have 3 claims for PPI with HFC. The first one I had a phone call from someone in the Ombudsman office who asked lots of questions which I answered honestly. I have now recived a letter simply informing me that they had not upheld my claim but that I could request a further review by an Ombudsman.
Does this mean that the Ombudsman will automatically agree and not uphold my claim?
I have not heard anything about the other two claims but they look likely to go the same way.
    Regards

Hi there, sorry to hear this, sometimes ombudsman does not agree with adjudicator, this will depend on the reasons for mis sell and any info you have given.Your other claims may not go the same way so i would not worry about this until you have to.Fingers crossed for you and let us know how you get on.x
  • Hi Thanks for the reply, The reasons i gave for the PPI been mis-sold was that the person who sold me the loan said that the loan would not be approved unless I took out the PPI there and then. It was never explained what the PPI covered and excluded and no questions were asked about if I could meet my re payments without the PPI cover.
    Regards
