some lovely ideas that i would probably steal if i hadn't sorted so much already!
I made my own invites which came to about £40 for 150 after buying all the bits. i printed loads of stuff for the inserts myself . they could easily have been more.
i am doing my own centre pieces. we are having an asian fusion theme and i have got some cheap scatter crystals (in acrylic to save). i bought some elephant tea light holders from wilkinsons (they were on sale for £1.66 ea instead of £2.77) and will lay them on a mirror plate that i am trying to get a bargain on but will not be spending more than £20 at worst.
i got my evening buffet cheaper by removing loads of meat dishes from the buffet and swapping for veggie which is better as a lot of my guests will be veggie anyway.
I am trying to avoid flowers as they are SO overpriced! decided i should prob have some in church though. my solution is to give my friend some cash and get her to do a display for me. she loves makin up bouquest and i always get a gorgeous one for my brthday. i have given her a sensible budget and getting same off her as florist quoted me £500 for. she has £100 to play with. I will also be buying some bay tree's or similar in pots to use outside the chrch (looks quite bare otherwise) and will later offer those as gifts to the parents so they can grow then in their respective gardens after the wedding as a momento of the day.
My sister is making my wedding cake. (three tier in fuchsia and cream with gold decor)
My friend is making me a wedding cake topper resembling me and h2b
another friend is dying some yarn for yet ANOTHER friend to knit me a lace shawl (october wedding - may be a bit chilly and if not, i can still use it to cover my shoulders in church.
)
got another friend doing my photos.
got another firend doing our dj'ing
I will do my own makeup and nails
um... oh, and i am making my own buttonholes. Out of feather and crystal.

I will be making my own cake! Next week!!
I have bought a bridesmaid style dress - I wanted red and one of the shops had the bridesmaid dress for £120 but the wedding dress was £800!!! They are identical apart from the fact that the bridesmaids does not have a hoop! I didn't want that anyway!
I made my invitations and used stamps I bought before the postal increase (2nd class of course)
I am making my cake topper from wooden flowers!
Plus I have bought a lot of things in the sale
Oh and the evening food is being bacon and sausage sandwiches which even with the room charge works out at 1.50 a head less! Plus chips for those who don't like the buttys!0 -
We needed an aisle runner and could only find resonable priced ones on US webistes that dont ship....so we bought organza curtains from Ikea in our colour (match brillaintly) and only £5.99 for pk of 2! and have also bought a roll of blue organza from a craft shop which we will cut to size for table runners and pew ends £9.50 for 25m!0

I made my own favours fron gauze & ribbon off the market and sugared almonds from a weigh & save. The lady in the shop was very nice & let me pick out all the lilac & white ones to go with my colour scheme!0

Everyone has got involved in the buffet, my nanna is doing trifle, my gran is doing butties, my mums neighbour is doing quiche and my mum is doing any extras, my MOH is doing the cake topper and OH is going to decorate the cake...supposedly. We're also going to make our own table runners, invitations, bouquets. My dress has come from a frriends' mum who has loads of stock left from when she used to have a dress shop, it's new but a few years old so very mse and there aren't any similar in any of the dress shops!0
