Property price

Hello all,

I remember a free website to get a valuation for your house. Is that still around?

We have just moved and think our house is in the wrong band. Our last house (3 bed + kitchen + bathroom semi det) was band B and now we have moved to a 2 bed flat its band C! For a smaller place 1.5 miles down the road! :(

All help appreciated...

Thanks... it helps but not really what I was looking for. Was looking to see what the value of the place I moved to is for CT purposes as I rent it...

why not ask the neighbours what their CT charge is ? i did this on buying a house, and they were paying less, as they had challenged and won.

I'll see if I can find a link, but the valuation websites seem to be wildly off for most people, plus current house prices bear no resemblance to the old council tax band valuations.

You're better off following one of the links provided, to see what your neighbours pay now. I wouldn't generally expect a 3 bed house to be as low as band B, so you may even have been undervalued there.

  • Our 3 bed is band B, if that makes any odds

Thanks - I think Im going to appeal. Will give them a ring today. I looked at the links above and everyone in our flats are paing for band C. Seems extortionate to me considering its smaller than last place and down the road from it! :(

How long does an appeal take? It would seem 3 of the 20 flats are band B... all are 2 bed as far as I know...

You might get a quicker answer if you post on the first thread I linked to as there are so many replies all specifically about that. I bet there's already at least one post from people who have successfully appealed.

    :)
