TV Tuner on laptop

hi, i recently was given a laptop for uni, it has windows proffesional.

i also got a TV Tuner but aparently you need media centre software to do this??? please could someone give me a link to this as i have no idea really. also id like to know if i get the media centre software will it replace windows professional???

You don't normally need Media Centre to get TV on your PC. Which TV tuner have you got?

yeah its got a cd but it doesnt do anything when i put in, and we paid for some man to come set everything up and he said wouldnt work unless we get media centre?????

i will give it another go, but suspect that because we have have microsoft proffessional instead of media addition that it wont work.

Have you now installed the software? Have you connected an external aerial?
Have you put your details into this site to find out more about transmitters and the type of aerial required?

3 people have tried including someone from dell (who set the computer up) so i dont know.

i think will have to return it...will they except returns??
