no sound

just reinstalled xp,+i cant get any sound out of my speakers,also vlc keeps crashing.
any help would be great.

    You will need to install all of your system drivers (Chipset, Video, and Audio at the very least) if you want it working properly.

    how do i go about setting drivers?
    ive been using ubuntu for ages+forgot my way around xp.
