hi my father is recieving the following benefits: disability, income support and pension. will he be entitled to carers allowance and if so will it effect his other benefits? is there any other benefit or help he may be entitled to? thankyou

i assume it would be you that would claim carers for your father?
if so you would have to be caring for him for at least 35 hours per week. if your father lives alone he would lose his severe disability premium. he would have to be receiving D L A (care) at middle or higher rate or attendance allowance.

hi thnx for your reply and yes i will be recieving it. would this effect his other benefits? would he carry on recieving his full amount of other benefits?

If he receives the severe disability premium in IS, (income support) that will stop.

But the above posts have pretty much covered it - check which level of DLA he gets if applicable - and the form to apply for carers allowance is available from direct.gov website - also they go over the criteria and what benefits would be affected if he claimed.
