Help me to become organised!

If you have got into a real mess it might be worth taking a few days off work in order to sort of start again. E.g. I have a very tidy house. Friends assume I must spend hours each week on housework, but I don't. I decided to get organised a few years ago and took a few days off work to do it. I had a massive spring clean and declutter. I literally got rid of half the contents of the house as most of the mess had been down to clutter. I then cleaned from top to bottom. Now I have a place for everything in the house and I make myself put everything away each night. On Sunday the cleaning takes me about an hour because the place is basically tidy already. Every few months I will do a more thorough clean. I also try and stick to the rule that says I have to get rid of something every time I buy something new.
It may sound a bit sad, but I actually sit down each Sunday and plan my week! I have a diary at home and schedule what I will do each night. That includes boring stuff like batch cooking and cleaning, but also leisure/social activities. I even look at the Radio Times first to see when my favourite programmes are on! I know it sounds really tragic, but I work long irregular hours and it's my only way of staying sane.
A friend of mine highly recommends a book called 168 Hours. She is filling in the spreadsheet online in order to see how she is using/wasting her time: http://www.my168hours.com/time-management-spreadsheet.html0 -

(without wanting to worry you unecessarily I would be more concerned by this than just needing to be organised). What does your husband say about it?, tbh, a lot of blokes I know don't see mess the same way and can't see what the fuss is.
I think I've alway been like this. Lately been feeling more tired than normal, but my GP found no problems. My diet is not great, I am on constant low calorie diet, but I try to top up with multivitamins.
Oh, my husband is really paying attention to the mess, he has something like OCD :rotfl: but he never blames me for messy house because he is rarely helping me either (fair enough). The problem is he has asthma and we really should be trying our best to keep home in sterile condition...
My work...well this is a big issue for me. This is a fab job, good money which is vital for our budget, but I would rather be doing something else.:(0 -
Hermia, are you never tired? I mean don't you have days when you don't want to do any housework at all?0

Errr, I don't remember saying I did housework every day. I said I put things away at the end of every day which takes about ten minutes. Each evening I just wash up the dinner things, sort my mail and put away anything I have used since getting in from work. As I said it only takes about ten minutes and I sort the mail whilst watching TV. Because I had the major declutter a few years back and I make sure I put things back when I use them I don't need to do housework every day. I only hoover/dust/clean etc once a week.
I do, of course, get tired as I work long hours, but putting stuff away has become a habit just like brushing my teeth.0
