BT Billing Issues

I have just had my july bill from bt and its a quarterly bt as normal ,but i`ve noticed they have incorrectly billed me by £245 pounds for what they say is broadband cancellation charges. Now i have only just connected to bt broadband before that i was with sky. so this is a new connection that is working fine and is new, so i could not understand how they had billed me by such an amount, anyway they now admit the bill is wrong but still want the full amount paid and the money they will then owe me will be given back on my october bill. This is surely no right as they made the mistake not me and to make me have to pay and then wait to get my money back is out of order, and all that would happen in october is they would put my bt account in credit so in affect not a refind at all. What are the best options for me here, i`ve asked for a correct bill showing the correct charges they say they can`t do this, but they re quick to send out imterim bills any time thet like if you owe them money, so it looks to me like they are fobbing me off

If they call the wrong amount via DD, you are entitled to require you bank to immediately reverse that call.
Write telling them you dispute the bill and enclose a cheque for the amount you think you owe. You're then covered for any debt collection action (the bill being in dispute prevents that).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
