the statement does not show anything going in i already checked this , thanks for your condescending post hannah_10 , il leave it a few days till it appears on the statement

if they dont realise there error within a week then surely its safe to spend it :)

Sorry what are you going on about? You come haring in here posting that something is urgent, when in fact it isn't, people divert their attentions accordingly, and you haven't done the most basic checks for yourself. I think you need to get over your sense of entitlement and try showing a few manners yourself if you want them back.

As my Nan always said, if you can't take it don't dish it out me 'ansome.

(For your reference, in both the Welsh and Westcountry dialects the sentance is naturally arranged with the question at the end, another thing you failled to give a moments consideration to I see.)
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

In my opinion, there is no need for that.

He has simply come on here worried and wanting advise as soon as possible because he is worried, I thought that was the point of these forums? Whether its deemed 'urgent' or not

Whatever you do, do not spend the money. The bank WILL notice the error and they will remove the money from your account without telling you in advance. Just wait a few days to check your statements to make sure it's not a legitimate payment that you've forgotten about, then go into the bank and tell them about their mistake.

What about a tax rebate you weren't expecting. I got one of those out of the blue last year, and very nice too.

I disagree. Why post on a forum a question that can be resolved simply by speaking to his bank?

Some people seem to have lost the idea of doing stuff for themselves.

The OP's prime concern seems to be how quickly he can steal someone else's money.:( (if it turns out to be someone else's).

My money is on the OP not knowing what is going on rather than a bank error.

Sorry to cause any rifts in the post, I can just understand where the OP is coming from thinking it may be urgent as I have been in the situation before where I'm worried and confused and therefore warrant it being urgent.

However, when I was in this situation I did check with the bank because they are more likely to help than us.

My case was that a large payment I made a while back was somehow sent back to my account before being taken again straight away so luckily I checked or I could have gotten some charges if I spent the money without realising.

Also, just to repeat, do not spend the money. Find out whats happened first and if it turns out it is legit (tax rebate or something) then fair play, its yours. But you need to find out first.

maybe the bank was feeling generous towards you lol.
my advice don't spend it, put it away in your savings account and earn abit of interest on it. if they come back for it atleast you can give it back. Thats what i would do.

    No.

It's not your money to spend.

If you do this the bank WILL still claim it back.
