i bank with alliance leicester , my balance should be around £400-600 at the moment dpeending on whats gone in an out
however my account shows £1060 , i have a £400 overdraft which i was in already
recently (yesterday and today) santander took over them , does my overdraft owed to allaince leicester no longer apply as they no longer own the account but santander do ?
what happens to overdrafts when banks are taken over?

Santander have owned Alliance & leicester for a while, so your overdraft would be with them now.
Just consider it a change of name

ok but why do i have so much money in my account all of a sudden? any ideas , they have owned them for a while but the change over only occured today0

Can you not see from your account as to what has been paid into it?
Or maybe you are looking at the available amount which includes your overdraft?0 -
So the £1000 odd is a credit balance not an overdraft? I'd go in and ask, whatever you do, don't spend it 'till you find out what it is!;)0

Something stopping you getting a mini statement from an ATM or the automated phone or internet service is there?I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

Very true, I'm sure there is a simple explanation. If the bank do make an error, you spend the cash, then you will have to pay the money back.0 -

the statement does not show anything going in i already checked this , thanks for your condescending post hannah_10 , il leave it a few days till it appears on the statement
if they dont realise there error within a week then surely its safe to spend it

No it's not safe to spend it DJ!! Far better go into the bank and have a word with someone, they might not realise they've made an error for weeks - but they will suss it out, then you will have to repay it back, even though it was their mistake.0

ok il leave it a bit then if its still there and i dunno what its from il have a word with them
cheers all0
