The OU year normally starts in February, although many courses now follow the traditional academic year. There are short Openings courses but, apart from this, you can't really start at a low level as they are all counted towards your degree.
If you are on a low household income you will get course fees paid for with a couple of hundred extra for resources if you're doing a full module. There is no maintenance funding as people support themselves whilst studying by working or they are on benefits.0 -
You could still get into uni for this year - I applied at the last minute. If you do go make sure you go straight to disability services at your uni. Mine have been fantastic and couldn't have coped without them x x0

I took my first degree with the OU. (BSc Hons Maths) I just want to say how amazingly fanastic they are!
They did everything possible to ensure that I could complete my studies. I even managed to attend summer school - they ensured my room was on the ground floor, and all my classes were on the ground floor too. And they provided a 'chauffeur' with her own car to drive me across campus.
All my exams were done at home, with extra time and a break halfway.
Mostly, I managed to hand in assignments on time, but was readily granted an extension when I needed it.
My tutor-counsellor kept in constant touch to make sure that I had everything I needed.
If I could sort out funding, I am thinking of doing more courses (maybe another degree?!) with the OU.....They financed all but the first year of the first degree I took with them.0 -
thats great, hopefully they can fund another for you.well done for sticking at it.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0
