I am with the Cov BS for my current account and my experience of them since early 2006 has been totally awesome.

I have never had a major issue with them apart from them introducing an automated answering service and doing away with the nice directly answered number.

I recently did a chargeback through them and the whole process was smooth form start to finish and when I sent the form in only about 3 days later I got an acknowledgment letter (signed in proper ink) with a Direct number to the department that deals with chargebacks called Financial Crime. I telephoned to enquire about the process and it was actually answered by the signatory on the letter!!!

This is fantastic service which seems unheard of these days.

I never see them in this forum being slated so wondered if anyone has actually had a real major issue with them.

I always see Santander, Lloyds, A&L, Barclays, Nat West being slagged here but never Cov BS.

And for those with the places mentioned here I suggest to hot foot it over to the Cov:

Hi Karate, after seeing someone on here (Basfordlad) i think recommend them, I got the (now retired) CallSave Money Manager 2 account with the Visa debit - I agree with everything you've said, they offer an excellent service. For me, the only drawback is that I can't wire money to my Irish bank account - I have to send it via my BOS account, but for day to day, they are hard to fault.
  • It’s so good, on these boards, to find someone taking the time to complement their bank (OK I know in this case it’s a Building Society)

From the sounds of it the Coventry should be added to the short list of Current Account providers who provide first class service. The other two in my mind would be First Direct and the Co-operative

I’m interested to hear if others agree?

    Aye indeed i did:j

Also you can still get straight through to an operative if you ring the coventry geographic number(saynoto0870) as opposed to the 0845 number (or the number on the back of you card if your abroad)

They are indeed a good provider. Find their branch staff very good and friendly to:).

Had an account since natwest chucked me out in 1996(i was a student @ Coventry uni!)

I think a lot of people dont use them because they think they are just based around the midlands and dont realise it can be all internet based.

Yup I agree too their service is first class. And its one of the cheapest cards to use abroad 2% and thats it. My only gripe is the internet banking, its ancient, no faster payments out of the account, and bill payments are a fiddly process.

    For those fellow "Covvers"

I have been told that faster payments will be introduced. Just taking longer as they are not a clearing bank.

The website will also be updated with an option of possibly ordering a printed cheque via that web page instead of having to phone up.

It was the chargeback that amazed me. I have heard mainstream bank operator staff quite often don't know what it is but at the Cov the operator knew immediately and sent me a form. Form then acknowledged and I was even able to speak directly to the case-worker.

It's almost like being in some kind of "private" bank.

I live 100s of miles from a branch but that is no problem with cash machines, debit card, telephone and web.

Ohh and another thing that was good is that I had to have a copy of my driving licence certified and they did that by post using their prepaid envelopes!
