Kettles most expensive thing in the kitchen?

To boil a litre of water does not take a fixed amount of energy, Those of you living in Skeggy or any where on the coast will use more energy than those of you Living in the Highlands. As water boils at a lower temperature the higher up you go. ( the difference is actually minute really but it sounds good).
Any way to boil a litre of water will take a set amount of energy for a set time.
ie 3kw for 185 sec.
if you use a 6kw source it will take 92.5 sec
9kw 61.666
etc etc. No matter how you boil it the same energy will be used.
BUT if you have an aga / stanley/ rayburn type stove that is contantly ticking over invest in an orginal type kettle and keep this top'd up if it keeps your water at about 50o you are half way there
If you only have an electric kettle then how big is it???
if you have a three litre kettle then you are more likley to boil more water than needed!!
Buy a small 'student' type kettle use this when it is only you & OH and bring the larger kettle out for visitors.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0
