Advice on feedback to leave

Hello!

I've had a search and can't find a similar topic, so I hope someone can help!

I ordered some headphones on ebay on 31st August quite early in the morning.

The auction states that anything ordered before 3pm would be despatched the same day, anything after 3pm would be despatched the following working day. Also it says that the item would be delivered within 36 hours as they are posted 1st Class.

I received an email on Tuesday 5th Sept saying that the headphones had been posted and to contact him if there was a problem.

I received the package today, 11th Sept, and it appears that the package has been posted 2nd class.

What should I do with regards to feedback?

Should I also ask for some kind of refund on the postage?I've bought a couple of things over the past few months and the sellers haven't left any feedback despite me leaving positives for them, I've only got 12 myself and I need all the positive FB I can get!!!

  • ask for a refund for postage, as the item was over 1 week late instead of the promised 36hrs delivery. Say it was meant to be a birthday present. If he doesnt reply then neg him after a few days, but u will most likely get one in return.

Is the item upto the standard that you would want them to be? I dont think that I would ask for a refund on the postage - though I guess that depends on how much you paid for the item and for the postage in the first place! I think that I would leave positive feedback and put in it that there was slow delivery but you received the item in the end. Or you could leave neutral feedback and say the above - and the seller may well neg you in return - unless he has already left feedback?

    Whats their feedback like?

i'm in a similar predicament, i sold something on 2nd (sat) and posted it on mon (4th) on parcel post. on auction i stated that i post sellers standard rate.
today 11th recieved feedback- really poor slow delivery. (which i am angry with)
i think that if i had been charging a premium for 36hr delivery then i would be expecting to refund that customer, postage. but as it was i was charging £2. and postage + jiffy bag cost total £1.87 what do people expect?? sometimes it baffles me.
i am tempted to retaliate with a -ve but then thats not the point of why we leave feedback. so i shall with hold it instead until i feel more calmer about it.

  • Before you leave feedback, email him and ask why item was sent second class when listing says first class and that is what you wanted, expected and paid for. You could try asking him how he can make amends, rather than asking outright for a refund?
It is very frustrating as a seller to get a negative without being given the opportunity to correct something first.
For all you know, the seller may offer to refund you the difference if he is given the opportunity, and then you may give him a positive, explaining that he rectified the small problem immediatley.

Bear in mind though that the seller may end up negging you for being difficult. Weigh up what refund would make you happy, and would it be worth risking a negative for?

But I do agree that the seller has been pretty unreasonable!

Appears? It will be marked on the postage label, surely?
I certainly wouldn't leave any feedback without contacting the seller first, especially since they invited contact if you had any problem. It's only fair to give them the chance to make amends. If you leave a negative first, you take away a potential incentive for them to offer a refund. If the item is satisfactory I would probably leave a neutral unless offered a grovelling apology and a postage refund.

I would respond to their feedback pointing out that you posted the item the next working day. Anyone reading the feedback will then realise that it is the customer not the seller who has been unreasonable.

I didn't see the package until I got home, my housemate told me that it had arrived and she said it looked like it had been sent 2nd class. I didn't explain this in my original post as I was trying to be brief!

When I got home from work I opened the package, and he has sent the wrong colours as well. ARG!

Demonblade - the earphones were to go with an Ipod that was given to me for my birthday, which I couldn't listen to properly as the standard headphones don't fit in my ears. I might point this out to him as it's been frustrating not to be able to use my new toy!!

I'd better email him and try and sort this out before I leave any feedback.
Although I think I will leave a neutral as this has been more hassle than it's worth.

Thanks for all your advice everyone.
