Co-op CC: change of statement date and late payment charge

Options
At the end of last month I asked to change the statement date of my Co-operative credit card from the 22nd to the beginning of each month. Last week I got a statement from Co-op, which indicated that I had been late with a payment, and there was a £11 charge.

I called them and asked about the matter. The person on the other side of the phone agreed this was in fact a system error due to the change of the statement date, and agreed to refund the £11.

However, she also said a record of a late payment had automatically been added to my credit record, although it was not my fault. I requested to have this wrong record of late payment dropped, but she said she could not do it, as it had been done by the system.

I have never been late with my payments before, and do wish to keep my record this way. Is there any other way to correct this wrong record? Thanks indeed.

Surely they can add a note to the record (did they say if it was held externally or internally to Co-op only?) in any case which will alert anyone later to the error involved? If necessary this can be drawn to someone's attention should the record prove an issue?

(But you have to ask them, of course.)

Write to the credit data controller at the bank. They can manually amend the record.

yes write to thier head office in manchester (balloon street one, even thought thier credit card department is in skelmarsdale) explain the conversation and advise you require this doing, if they do not you will take further action.
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

Then, should I address the letter to, say:

    The credit data controller,
    The credit card department,
    Co-operative Bank,
    1 Balloon Street,
    Manchester???

Thank you really for all your help.

The last time I needed to write to Co-operative’s Data Controller, the address was:
    Martin Kent
    Data Management Department
    Co-Operative Bank plc
    PO Box 101
    MANCHESTER
    M60 4EP
That was back in June 2005. I’ve no idea if Mr Kent is still the data controller, but the “Data Management Department” part you’ll want. (The postcode that the Co-operative give is for their PO Box, so the street address shouldn’t appear in the address.)
