I don't use exfoliators, I use a body brush for my, erm, body and an exfoliating mitt for my face (I think someone else mentioned them). I moisturise using boots own aqueous cream (you have to ask at the pharmacy counter) it's about £3 for a huge tub, it's pretty thick so maybe not suitable for all.

I use Kanebo foundation and powder and was gutted last year when House of Fraser and Boots stopped selling it.

The only distributer left in the country is Harrods and they charge £7.50 delivery!

For 'no make up days' I use Clarins face tanning gel and think this is a miracle product! About £23.50 a bottle but worth every penny in my mind. :j

I very rarely even buy a new product these days as I am so happy with the ones I use so that saves money. When I was younger, I was always trying new things, only to find they didn't suit me and ended up chucking them out!

Well that's worth the entry money alone! I've never thought to buy things like that off ebay. Ace!

All go down to Boots and buy a great big tub of Aqueous Cream. It's the base for most of the other expensive perfumed creams and has fantastic moisturising properties. It can be used as a cleanser, with water and to mositurise. A tub last ages and ages - all for about£1.99.
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

  • Look out for a product called Britt Ekland's beauty glow. Looks just like bronzing powder but this stuff can be used as blusher, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner (when applied with a damp eyeliner brush), lipstick (mix a little with some vaseline), nail colour (apply the powder to clean nails and then clear top coat gives lovely bronzey sheen), fake tan (put on body lotion and then using a large brush apply the powder. It sets using the lotion and won't rub off on clothes etc).

It comes in a black plastic 18g pallette (like a pressed powder compact). None of its ingredients have been tested on animals. This originally sold on QVC for £40. But most large shopping centres now have stalls selling this for £12 and when I was in Glasgow yesterday I noticed they had it for £5!!!!

I was given mine at the beginning of the year by my Mum and I use mine every day and I haven't used even half. So very economical.

  • two things I've found where I think the cheaper version is better than the expensive one are:
    - Lidl Cien conditioner- the 45p one. I've honestly never used ANYTHING better. I bought it when i was really really desperate once expecting a "make do" type thing- but I swear I'd use it even if I wasn't in debt. Makes my hair really soft and glossy. Good for leg shaving too!
    - Aqueous (sp?) cream instead of normal moisturiser/ body lotion. My skin's been a lot better since I swapped my body shop moisturiser for this.

Also was really pleased to find an aluminium free deodorant (Biosen) in superdrug for less than £2 the other day- I'd always been led to believe they cost a fortune.

Generally I find a good way to save on toiletries is to dilute them with water- shampoo and shower gel particularly.

The only thing I won't do cheapie on is razors- Venus or nothing I'm afraid, everything else gives me a rash (but I can get about five shaves out of one blade so probably not that bad)

    Hi
I buy all my make up new from ebay, Lancome for a fraction of the instore price, I can't believe I used to pay full for it. I buy tesco own shampoo and conditioner in huge bottles, apple and aloe is lovely.

I make my own exfoliator with sugar or sea salt and honey lovely

I use baby bath - boots own always get them on BOGOF and I use it on baby too

I get my nail varnish free when I get those £5 vouchers in Boots

If you love Avon products become friends with your Avon rep. I already was friends with a girl who started doing Avon. I now get some of my Avon stuff at the promotion prices (much cheaper) and get first shout at the sale stuff. ;)

  • Disgusting subject I know but does anyone know of a good alternative to the Biore face strips? i.e. the ones that vacuum out all the grime from your pores. They are so expensive even on ebay.
