I am a total fan of Estee Lauder and L'Oreal make up (same parent company by the way. Most Estee make up appears as a new L'Oreal product after about a year), but these are so expensive! I'd cut my make up budget originally by buying on the internet but after running out of foundation I bought Aldi's (yes the supermarket) own brand make up (Lacura) and the foundation was superb!!!!! Its £1.49 for a 30ml tube. :T

Have since tried their bronzer (£1.29) comes in light and dark and again its great. Their lipsticks too are fab and for £1.29 thay come with the matching lip liner.

Still to try their nail varnish (£0.99) and their duo eye shadows (£1.29) and their mascara (£1.49, this beat L'Oreal and Chanel recently in some beauty awards).

Just in case you're wondering I have very sensitive skin so would happily recommend their products to anyone who like me has to watch what they put on their face. Even though the prices are cheap all the packaging the make up comes in is nice. The lipsticks come in a nice silver (metal) tube.

Sounds a bit weird but look out for beauty microfibre cloths/mitts. They sell them in Bodycare, Superdrug and I got mine in my local pound shop. You can use these for cleansing your face just using hot water. The fibres (sorry if this sounds disgusting) reach down into your pores and sweep out all the grime. This mitt is reusable and is cared for exactly the same way your normal microfibre cleaning cloths are except the fibres on these ones are finer.

The make up is normally in a black cardboard box near the shower gels and baby wipes. All ALDI stores stock at least the basic range of the make up (I checked). According to Aldi the basic range is foundation, pressed powder, duo eye shadow, mascara, lipstick and lip liner. If you don't see it ask one of the assistants. They now also have lip gloss in the range (£1.29). Planning on buying a few items for friends for presents.

I believe Lidl get some make up as part of their weekly specials. But not sure if they have it as a regular stock item.

  • Like the Estee stuff, I found out that the Loreal Elvive haircare has pretty much exactly the same ingredients as the Kerastase range which I used to buy from the hairdresser, just with extra scent and colour! I've swapped and if anything my hair looks better than when I was using an expensive brand, and its often on BOGOF. Definitely recommend it, especially the anti frizz intensive conditioner.

I use expensive (Lancome - eek!) foundatio,. mascara and eye make up remover but have found every other makeup item and skincare can be cheap, I really like Simple's range as i have sensitive skin and everywhere sells it.
