Harvesting swedes early

Can anyone help on a quick question please?!
We planted our swedes towards the end of April, just a couple of weeks early. According to the pack they would be ready for harvesting October to March. We pulled one up yesterday as the amount showing above ground looked perfect for what we need (there's only two of us). The diameter of the swede was about 5/6 inch. However, the skin was still quite light coloured and was very easy to peel just now. The flesh is hard, solid, just not as rock hard as ones we've bought in the past.
Would you say it would be alright to cook and eat or have we pulled it too early?

FWIW we picked our first swedes today, a bit small but they're now cooked in a lamb stew. The leaves have gone to the chooks.0
