Hi, I am after a list of areas against postcodes.
I am setting up a website and my website developer's asking me a for a list of all postcodes against areas so when a website visitor types in their postcode their area is automatically picked up (does not have to be as specific as the road name)..
Could anyone help ?
Thanks
ps: yes this is a repost from here as I have not been able find a list that I can use unfortunately

The Post Code set is (c) of the Post Office (although the file leaked onto t'interweb a few months back). The best bet is to contract with a provider to use a web-service to do what you need.
BTW, you don't need to wait until a visitor inputs their post code, there's plenty of services that'll use the IP address of the incoming traffic to resolve to town/area level.0 -
A lot of geoip info is completely wrong though, It's not reliable really. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
