  • You mentioned about not knowing where your surplus money is going so maybe you and your OH should start a spending diary.
I do one each day and its shocking the amount of money I spend on absolutely nothing..then I challenge myself to get that spend down the week after!

    Well I made a start:j

The OH wanted to take me out for a posh meal as it was my birthday yesterday. I won, dial a pizza on BOGOF and a film on Sky for £13.50 and no having to dress up. Bottle of wine that was already in the house. I reckon that saved about £60.

I have been on to USwitch and am switching gas/elec suppliers. They reckon they can save us over £240 per year and did it through Quidco as someone suggested. £18 for switching but have no idea how Quidco works - please can someone explain?

The car was in for a service yesterday but instead of getting a cab home (8 miles), I walked to a friends (1 mile) for coffee and then waited until the OH could pick me up in the works van. Saved about £10 in fares although we did end up in Ikea for their 95pence breakfast so that cost £1.90 for us both.

I have started a spending diary and today the only thing is some bread about £1 from the local shop but I will walk there to save petrol. The advantage of going to the local shop is that I will only get bread.

Thanks to everyone for their replies yesterday. You are a wonderful DFW family and I hope I can help you some day.

    Thanks
    Gilly
