Firefox Update to v3.6.8 Problems

Firefox on Windows XP gave me a message to update from v3.6.7 to 3.6.8 but I am now in a loop of FF downloading the update, prompting a restart, then reopening still in 3.6.7 and prompting again to update. FF opens up after the restarts but freezes after a few clicks.

I've googled this problem. Someone seemingly cured it by updating Flash which I have done and I've disabled all of the add-ons in case they were the cause but the problem remains.

I have tried to do a clean reinstall but in add and remove programs it says it is unable to remove FF3.6.7.

Any ideas please?

Try to download 3.6.8 manually and install it without uninstalling 3.6.7.

Thanks tronator - successfully updated. It all seems to be running fine now.
