Hi, there  Take a look at this - bruised apples and windfalls. I'll add this thread to that one later.
Word of caution - it's very early for apples. Are you sure they're not what's called "June Drop" where the tree sheds apples that it won't be able to sustain to maturityIf so they may be useful for wine, but not pies or puddings
Another suggestion is weezl's sour apple bhajis. Can't find a recipe, sorry

Hi Penny,
Sorry I mean what's dropping from the tree at the moment - I had windfall stuck in my head for some reason.
It's does seem such a shame to waste them (as there are so many), but I'm not sure I'm up to make wine -guess the composter is going to fill up today then
Many thanks for your reply though.

Hello all,
quick question, is there any reason that i can't use wind fallen apples, my neibours (sp) were gonna throw them away, but i liberated them. Obviously i'll cut out all the dodgy bits, and any lodgers  :rotfl: :rotfl: .

You can use them for most of the recipes that use cooking apples
I'll add this to the existing windfall apples thread to keep ideas together.

There is no reason I know off, except maybe a bit tart and require more sugar than normal ripe ones. I have just used mine, and always have done
Use as ripe ones, after cutting off the bruised / damaged / maggoty bitsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
