When joiners put in new doors, do they.....

Options
....normally have to take all the old framing etc out themselves or is it expected that it will be done ready for them to just fit the new framing, door & architrave? Old stained pine framing is coming out and new oak framing is going in.)

I've always prepared jobs ready for a tradesman to just come in and repair/replace as necessary so this is the first time this question has come up.

I've got a joiner coming tomorrow to put in some new doors and framing but I'm struggling to get the old doors and framing off ( in practical terms...time etc).

Thoughts?

Clearly it would be cheaper for me to prepare things rather than paying him labour time but other than cost, what's the norm?

generally you leave well alone and let them do the whole job.
    ps,
get the work priced for the job, not at an hourly rate.

When I replaced internal doors I had to contact the local council and arrange an uplift for them. The joiner wouldn't take them away.

We always visit the dump with stuff like this so no biggie to dispose of things. :)

When I replaced my internal doors, I sold the old ones on ebay. Man who bought them was delighted and I was pleased that they didn't just end up in a landfill site.

when using handsaw with old panel doors cut them slightly off half so you miss the lock block - might save breaking into a sweat.
