I've only had a quick look on the website:

How about this one? Higher memory for a bit more money. Although not sure how good acers are in comparison. Or if it is worth the difference. I'm hoping others will join!0 -
Bit sceptical about Acer and i think the battery life doesnt look that great.
Possibly spend the extra and go for this HP G72-103 laptop for 429.99 pounds as it has an intel core i3 processor however doesnt have HD screen quality like the compaq i first mentioned.
Im not a computer expert but the HP only has 2gb ram which i guess i can upgrade further down the line........!!0 -
Hi HER
My name’s Phil and I’m from Comet.
Without knowing what your primary use for the laptop would be, it is difficult to say for certain whether this particular model would be suitable for your needs.
However, the Compaq you have suggested with its 2Ghz processor, 3Gb Ram and 320Gb hard drive it would be more than adequate for day-to-day tasks such as web browsing, word-processing, storing photos and music and watching videos online.
If you are looking for a laptop that you can also play the latest games on, you would need to look at laptops that have dedicated graphics cards for optimum performance, however laptops with dedicated graphics cards are more expensive.
Hope this helps.

Its a pity you're stuck with comet as 400 would get you a better computer else where. It really comes down to what you want to do with it, do you want longer battery life, ie more portable, or bigger capacities, ie hard drive, faster processor etc. Can't really have both without more money.0
