Hi, I am the owner of a self sell property website, I am interested in peoples views on such sites compared to traditional estate agents.

i think self selling is the way to go.there is nothing that pes's me of more than paying 2000/3000 to some incompetent simply to provide a shopfront and a internet portal.i would much rather have a hands on to selling my own house....but you would def need to be able to get your home on the big onlines for it to work..ck0

Thanks Citykid5, yeah that was the reason I set it up. I was selling my house in the country and could not get an estate agent to do the viewings. Which basically meant I was doing all the work. When I sold the house (to someone I knew and not through the agent) i had to pay them 1.5% of the value PLUS vat. Talk about sickened.
Not a rant about estate agents, as my business model is based around it. I just hope I can offer value for money. Thanks for your feedback0 -

Do you think you're the first person to have this idea?"The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

So do you know how many of your 'clients' have actually SOLD through your website...?0

i think the tradtional agent can be more worthy, take my house sale. lady from another part of country drives round to find EAs, then gets shown property. I talk to estate agent about a house i want to see via another branch but i wont because it is 20k too much. EA checks the other branch, a conversation is had with vendor, i view and then i buy.
I realise some sales/purchases are done by rightmove reading, but some are through talking to the right people and chance.0 -
I think estate agents charge a lot for their services, but when I sold my house they created a certain amount of hype among several potential buyers before it came on the market, and I got full asking price on day one.
Your super-duper-new-online-company might charge less, but you have no knowledge of the local market or local buyers. How will you help buyers and sellers meet in the middle of their price expectations? How will you smooth over local problems likely to come up in the survey? How will you deal with local solicitors to keep the deal on track when complication arise?
How much do you spend on local advertising? Apart from spamming free online forums.
Are any of your properties on Rightmove?
How many houses has your site sold so far?
Just did a search for London, and got two properties in County Londonderry:

Consider that a freeby. I normally charge for spamming.Been away for a while.0 -
Go forth and spam no more!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
