The Diary To My Dreams

Hi everyone I thought I would start a diary as I am determined to get debt free.
Together me and my OH have debts of about £38,000. I have had a look at the finances over the last few weeks and reduced a number of different things.
At the moment my OH is working full time and I am working part time, running my own company and also studying full time. Over the past few weeks I have worked out a budget however after doing my SOA I have decided to revise the budget and see where I can reduce things even more.
I reckon with enough willpower I can clear my £8,000 by the end of 2010. I guess through doing this diary I'm looking for some company on the long journey to being debt free and also if things are in writing I am more likely to work hard in order to achieve them.

Hi Wannabe!
Just wanted to say welcome and good luck. Post your SOA (hopefully someone will be along with a link in a minute) so we can help you trim your budget!
You say your joint debts are £38k and your debt is £8k. Have I read that right? Or is the £8k on top of the £38k? My confusion, sorry, it's sunday and my head is pickled!0 -

The £38k includes the £8k but I have decided to work on mine first and then tackle the much bigger project.Aiming to get Debt Free.0 -

I have decided to tackle the debt problem in two parts. Part 1 is to sort out my debts and Part 2 is to sort out my OH’s.
I have calculated that I should be debt free by the end of 2010, which if I have worked it out correctly gives me 159 days.
My debts are:
Catalogues £3000
Family and Friends £1000
Personal Loans £ £2500
Credit Card £1500
The first thing that I will do is to schedule payments on these debts. The aim is to have it all paid by the end of 2010.Aiming to get Debt Free.0 -
Debt Free Job 1:
Tackle: Catalogues £3000
What Needs Done:
- Cancel all catalogues except the one. Keep the one that allows me to earn some money.
- Schedule realistic payments for each of the catalogues
- Submit a payment to each catalogue (Note to self: Even a small amount will help)
- Review balance on the accounts
