hi just about to buy a kitchen having looked around all the usual places, was going for howdens as fitter gets good discount and as a friend will pass it all on , designer coming next week, so don't know prices yet but know I want the haworth white in frame kitchen.
Dilemma now is wickes 50% sale + extra 15% off that , the York solid oak painted doors kitchen was something I has discounted on cost, does anyone have an experience of fitting either kitchens. opinions appreciated as read so much good and bad for both now confused !!!

I've had a quote from both and I think that Howdens is the better looking of the 2. Not in the trade though so I can't comment on the quality. I would though, play them off against each other. You'll need printed quotes, but go to one and tell them that the other has offered it you at £x.
Having said that, I can't make up my mind either. The installation process for me is soooo daunting

are you looking at same kitchens i.e york versus howarth white,
has quotes now for both just units no appliances worktops sinkstaps, both around £3500, 13 units
what do you think ?? just cannot make mind up now about which what I want ?? merits for howdens are looks new where as york looks used (but thats the look )0 -
I looked at both and would have bought either but my fitter was happier with Howdens.
My only observation is that the soft closers are standard with Wickes and an optional extra with Howdens."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
As a fitter i would choose Wickes but thats just my opinion. Im sure there will be others that disagree

I'm in the middle - literally - of our kitchen install. Fedup!:(
2 weeks without a sink and 1 week without dishwasher and washing machine.
But, we have re-wired, replastered, put new window and door in, we're now putting underfloor heating and tiles in and units are now all assembled. We're definitley on the home run now!
We got Ikea units - dead impressed with the quality and price. Neighbour is doing same size kitchen from Howdens but cost quite a lot more.Target of wind & watertight by Sept 20110 -
mmh , so much conflicting opinions re howdens versus wickes, I have read more on other threads too, now today my sister pointed out that inframe kitchens are not easy to clean , the frame is a crumb trap? my concerns with york is will oak work tops go with it as deep cream units, wickes show it with Dark oak but had not planned on buying their work tops,
also can anyone advise how important to the look to have sink central on a run especially as window is central too? wickes have put it off centre 1200mm one side and 900 mm the other ?
appreciate any opinions as hubby now gone past caring ! as have the kids !0
