Best UK current account for overdrafts?

Hi

I currently bank with alliance and leicester current account with a £250 o/d I reduced it from £500 to try and save money and now keep going over the limit and getting charged as they wont increase it back up to £500

I also have a bog standard HSBC current account with a £500 o/d that I use each month and pay off each month too.

Any ideas on what account would be cheapest and best for me to try and save some money in stead of paying bank charges etc?

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ps I checked Equifax and my credit rating is good- if that helps?

Many thanks

G
