Egyptian Cotton Bedding so creased after being washed

Anyone got any tips for ironing egyptian cotton bedding?

My previous cheap bedding from local high street stores never needed ironing this egyptian stuff though is so creased after being washed and dried on the line that I have to spend ages ironing it and even then theres still creases in it.

Have tried ironing whilst still damp which makes it a bit easier and have started using fabric conditioner again to help soften it a bit.

Any advice on ironing etc if at all possible I dont want to iron at all.

Would a slower spin help?

Any help greatfully received.

Richard.

From experience, you can't avoid not ironing cotton bedding!

As you've found, it's best using fabric conditioner, ironing it when it's slightly damp and use a steam iron.

It does soften with age, and you'll find it a lot easier to iron after about 10-15 wash cycles.
Here I go again on my own....

:) Just don't worry about it too much.
Don't overspin it, leave it as wet as possible when you put it on the line, and if it gets too much for you, only iron the pillow cases.

Thank you, it does feel softer already after only 2 washes so much better.

That's the trouble with 100% cotton . Cheaper cotton sheets usually include some polyester or other synthetic material which reduces/helps shed creasing.

My sister has the same problem with her elder son's shirts - he insists on buying the very expensive 100% ones - very nice but a s*d to iron. He does them himself now!

I think I need to invest in one of those presses they had in Prisoner Cell Block H! Always did a good job!

I have got one of those, you have to use the distilled water with it though, I got mine from Debenhams.

Why not be ostentatious and not iron it? It then shouts out 'good quality cotton without polyester'.

Besides, blokes brains are known to not be really properly wired to be motivated for ironing and anyone wil forgive you.

I'll go along with that. I recently moved house and invested in some good quality bedding but have found the sheets too much hassle to iron. Just put them on the bed and within a couple of days they have flatten themselves out.

I really, really, hate ironing more than any domestic task. I have loads of work shirts so that I can go weeks without having to do the sodding ironing. I would pay for someone to do it for me but I'm too much of a tightwad.

Just fold the sheets and place under the cushions of a sofa. They'll get 'pressed' for no work!
