hi people i Have a DLink 604t Wireless ADSL router
I am trying to tie the MAC address' down of the 3 pc's which use this,
the picture below is the page to do this

but when i click on enable access list then i type in the mac address and click add the router decides to lock up and i am then locked out of it even though connected through ethernet and have to reset any ideas why this might be happening ???
Many thanks
Lee

Are you sure that you are using the wired connection to connect, and you are typing in the correct mac address (even though it is plugged in, it could still be communicating using wireless).
Have you setup wpa security, and disabled ssid broadcasting, as they are more important than mac address filtering.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
positive using the wired connection as removed the dongle and yes wpa setup0

Only think I can think of is a bug (see if there is a firmware update available), or may remove the colons from the mac address, or maybe add the hardware ethernet card mac address in as well.
Also, try pasting it in from a ipconfig /all > c:\1.txt notepad c:\1.txt report
If not, give them a call:

OH ... I see it now. "Dlink problems" .... I thought you said "Drink problems".
(sorry Lee .... just my awful sense of humour)0 -
try doing this in Internet Explorer, quite often this happens with web based routers.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0

thecapt just managed to sort it in Microsoft IE many thanks for that very strange it wouldn't work in firefox though0

it is to do with how firefox works differently to Internet Explorer, as Windows is the most commonly used operating system and as Internet Explorer is bundled with windows the router manufacturers make sure that their routers will work with Internet Explorer and less so for other browsers.
If that makes any sence to you, it kind of explains why.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0
