Where do i stand with this Argos [non] delivery?

I'm raging! On Wednesday evening, i ordered a book case in the sale from Argos.
My parents couldn't take Friday delivery, so i paid extra for the Saturday delivery (only £3.00 extra, but not the point).
Delivery listed as between 7:00am - 3:00pm on a Saturday. I was working from 7:30am-4:00pm, so my g/f had to get up early on her day off to sit in and wait on this arriving.
I get home after 4:00pm, still not here.
I call at 5:00pm asking where my order is. Bloke on the phone tells me its on its way & the driver hasn't logged what the delay is, but it's on its way.
Sure this is just a line he's feeding me, i give him the benefit of the doubt.
7:45pm, still not arrived, i call back. 7:57pm i hang up after being sick of waiting & spending more money on this 0845!!!
I've just emailed them my rant. I was warned against their delivery service, but i thought that must've been a bad personal experience. I guess not!!
I told them i have paid for a service that i've not received & i want refunding accordingly (regards the Saturday delivery charge).
The item is now back at full price & out of stock, but i said that i still want this delivered as it must be in the back of an Argos van somewhere as it's not at my home where it should be.
I'd just like to know for sure where i stand, regarding the Saturday charge refund & delivery of the item.

You can get the delivery charge refunded, and the item will no doubt turn up next week.
Who was the courier?0 -
I have no idea, the contact email i had didn't say.
If it wasn't Argos & was instead another firm, then by the non delivery, i'd like to wager it'd be $hitty link. I've had many orders that were supposed to be delivered by them, must be 10-20 orders or so in total.
Only 1 has been delivered without any problems.0 -
Yeah, I've had problems with them as well.0

Call up at 8:40am today & get put on hold. !!!!!!??? All of our advisors are busy? How many do you have - 2????
Anyway, the woman tells me the delivery driver seems to have delivered to the wrong house as he's left a card at 4:45pm
I say well he didn't leave one at my place!!
Looks like you'll be taking delivery tomorrow then she says.
"looks like"? No, we either are or aren't. There's no "looks like". Anyway, i ask how i can be taking delivery when he's going to the wrong place??
It may be a different delivery driver she tells me. And anyway, the driver doesn't need to take a signature. He can just leave it somewhere safe, with a neighbour for example.
YOU WHAT?? First off, i'm in a detached house, so i have no neighbours as such. Secondly, the nearest houses are down the street. Thirdly, what if the person he DECIDES to deliver to doesn't know me? And finally, what if that person a) can't stand me or b) decides to make the most of receiving their free book case?!?!?!?
Jokers!!!
I ask if i can leave delivery instructions so he can at least make it to MY place.
No you can't do that she says.
Customer service?? What??0 -
I understand your anger but I think this would be better done on the vents forum. I'm sure the delivery will turn up tomorrow (or even later!) and it'll be fine; you can ask for the delivery charges to be refunded.
These days I've just learnt to not expect deliveries when promised and thus are pleasantly surprised when they do; you work yourself up much less that way. And I'd never take time off work to receive a delivery unless it was 100% guaranteed, you can usually make alternative arrangements (deliver to work etc).
If they don't get the goods to you (eg. it's delivered to the wrong address and nicked) you're entitled to your money back and you can ask for another to be sent. Of course, if they don't have stock or want a different price then it's within their rights and you'd have to settle for a refund and accept the loss of bargain.
Honestly, it's really not worth working yourself up over this, there are bigger things in life (hope that's not too patronising, honestly it's not meant that way).0 -
I also live in a detached house. I also have neighbours....i'm in a detached house, so i have no neighbours as such.
What does "I have no neighbours as such" mean?
Yes, I understand that. Isn't that the same for everyone?Secondly, the nearest houses are down the street.
The driver does not DECIDE where to deliver it to.Thirdly, what if the person he DECIDES to deliver to doesn't know me?
He does decide who to ask though.
The selected recipient can refuse to accept the delivery on your behalf.
Anyway, the driver will put a card through your door telling you where he has left it.
See above answer...And finally, what if that person a) can't stand me...
"The selected recipient can refuse to accept the delivery on your behalf."
Get back onto Argos and ask for another one....or b) decides to make the most of receiving their free book case?!?!?!?0 -
This reminds me of Dragons Den the other night.
Peter Jones told a guy that Logistics people were working on 10 minute delivery slots and that it would soon be here.
Just what planet is he on, most of them can't even deliver in a day!!!!0
