Trying to wire in a ceiling light. On the ceiling light there is a block with the usual earth, neutral and live. When I open the ceiling rose there is the same three and 3 more reds in the middle for the ring main? I do not know where to wire these into?
Hopefully someone will help soon.
Thanks Ian

One is the live from the previous light, one is the feed to the rest of the lights on the chain, and one is the feed to the lightswitch.
You should have all three reds in one block, two of the blacks in another, and the third black which should have a red tag on it in the block feeding the blue wire to the lamp.
Take this advice at your own risk and make sure the consumer unit has the correct rating fuse for the light circuit (5A fuse, or 6A MCB) before testing just to be safe.
If none of the black wires have a red tag, you'll have to experiment. You'll cause the fuse to blow / circuit to trip if you're pairing the wrong black with the neutral (blue) feed to the lamp.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Yes I have the wires as stated in you post but the 3 in the middle where do they go as I havent got the terminal to wire to? I only have an earth, neutral and live?0

oh right. You need to use a block connector in that case.

Pop all three in just one connector, tighten, and bob's your auntie

o.k. Thanks. So wire colours accordingly and the 3 reds for ring main just leave like they are in a connector block? Thanks0

Exactly. Remember you need two more ways on the block connector, one for the two neutrals on the ring, and another for the live return from the switch (black with red tag) and live to the light.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Once the job is finished, but it needs some Polyfilla around the ceiling rose, that's when the credit card comes in!

Yes it does. All I did from the ceiling rose was connected the colours to the fan like for like and the 3 red for the ring I just put in a choc block and this works all fine as I have done today. Its just no where in the fans electrical instructions does it show or say anything?0

Don't be silly, I expect the credit card was used as a screwdriver.0
