Yeah,
That is what prompted my original post which was removed! What a great deal (I bought 18!).
It is also possible to get Ernest & Julio Gallo White Granache for £2.70 per bottle, delivered (usually about £5) by using the discount codes.
Got 18 of those as well - it's gonna be a good weekend!0 -

Thank you so much for this thread. We're getting married in 2 weeks, and the place where we're having our wedding reception allow you to take in your own booze. We managed to buy a case of red wine, a case of white, a mixed case and a case of champagne for £120! All decent wines and champagne as well!!
Saved £5 on delivery (since orders over £99 are delivered free) and also used the £20 off voucher, went through Quidco for an extra 3%, used my GE Moneyback card (another 3% cashback on there) and got 120 Tesco Clubcard points, too
Thanks!!!

I know nothing about wine and basically would like any recommendations on good priced Red, White and Champagne/sparkling wine.
Any advice will be gratefully received.A BIG thank you everyone who takes the time to reply my posts :hello:0 -
Head over to the Discounts forum for info on a £20 off voucher if you spend over £50 on Tesco wine. It's also free delivery at the moment. So if you can afford to buy it right now you'll save a fortune. In fact buying it right now can be very good for the wine if you are able to store it in a dark and cool place and on it's side because most wine isn't necessarily stored correctly once it's been bottled. There are a lot of good recommendations in the thread on the discount forum. Not least the one that I recommended on page 3 (go to it to read more info). Once you take off the discount it's only £3 a bottle for this superb rioja that is absolutely perfect for serving up to large quantities of guests because it's so drinkable. Most rioja is but this is a cut above the rest. As for white wine I can recommend sauvignon blanc from New Zealand because it's fresh, light, citrus fruits flavours will appeal to more people than a heavy Aussie type chardonnay. This Villa Maria is on offer right now and having drunk a bit of it when in New Zealand I can highly recommend it (as can all of the competition judges who have given it awards).

One other thing that I would recommend if you want to buy other types of red wine other than the Signa that I recommended. A lot of people don't like red wine because of something called tannins. That is the dry and bitter after taste that you get that is caused from the skins of the red grapes. Tannins are by no means bad but a lot of cheap and young red wine can be particularly nasty. This can be negated by either buying older wine (which is often more expensive) or by airing it for about one hour before drinking. Get your catering company/family to open bottles an hour before serving them. It's amazing how much better they taste. The beauty of the Signa that I recommended is that it's a 2002 reserva and has less tannins. Although it still benefits a lot from airing it.
One thing though. If you were buying lots (I'm guessing around 100 bottles) then you'll need some help because you can only use the voucher once on each account. If you have multiple email addresses (you could create some if you didn't) and multiple debit/credit cards then you can just create multiple accounts to the same address.0 -

Was this for a wine order back in about Feb? I ordered using a 1000 point code then, and it was never applied. I telephoned immediately on receiving the order, and was promised it had been added manually.
I then telephoned in May, when I got my coupons, to say it had not been added. They told me that there had been a problem, and no-one had got them but it would be rectified.
Again, when my coupons arrived in August, I telephoned again. The man I spoke to was most unhelpful and said that they "probably" had been added, and, as I got over 17200 points anyway, I'd already got a lot, so I should assume they were on there!
I was not happy at this, and he said that, since he could not prove they'd been added, he'd do it manually.
I left it a few weeks and phoned again, because I was not convinced that he would do so, given his attitude. However, I was told on 14 Sept, that they HAD been added. We'll just have to wait and see what the next lot of vouchers says.
It was a bit of a pain, and they made me feel like I was mithering, but this is £40 we're talking about!!!0 -

I'd completely agree with Mr East, and go for the New Zealand Villa Maria Sauv Blanc - it really is absolutely lovely and very quaffable. As for the red, I love the Yaldara Estate Shiraz - usually £7.99 a bottle, now £3.99! Its very smooth and easy to drink, not too heavy either so perfect for a wedding.
You're very lucky being able to BYO wine, my sister got married last year and they charged her £17.50 per person for one glass of bucks fizz and 2 glasses of mediocre wine.
As for champagne, I've enjoyed Tesco's own vintage just as much as a nice Laurent Perrier, but if you're mixing it with OJ for bucks fizz I truly believe you can get away with a nice vintage cava - their own is £5.63 per bottle and it is lovely - not too acidic.
Have a fantastic wedding!Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they won't! Inevitably they will both be disappointed.Albert Einstein:smileyhea0
