electricity disconnection letter - please help.

i just received a letter this morning from hydro threatening to disconnect my electricity, it is dated july 20th. i 100% completely forgot to pay them (just moved into a new house, everything is chaotic) & i payed them today via hydro.co.uk / debit card.

if this letter was sent on the 20th, that's 4 days gone by, & it could take up to 3-4 days for my payment to go through... does that mean i'm going to be disconnected? i'm really worried about this, i cannot afford the £150 reconnection fee, especially since i've just payed off the bill. what do i do? does anyone have any experience with this? can they just shut off my electricity at any moment? any help appreciated, thanks! >:

You presumably called them to pay the amount due. As would have been explained, disconnection only occurs as a last resort after numerous attempts to recover the debt fail so I'm not sure how you could have just 'forgotten' to pay..

Anyway, if you've now paid the amount due, the operator should have confirmed that any disconnection process they had initiated would be halted.
(Whilst it may take 3 or 4 working days for the supplier to actually receive the amount you paid, they would have checked to gain authorisation of the amount first - that effectively guarantees them the money)

You could always call them to double check if you are unsure.

Are you really sure the correspondence you received said they were disconnecting you, or was it just the the typical threat (after the red reminder) that says pay up or we might consider disconnecting you.

Maybe you could give them a call today, and let them know you have paid online.

Looks like they paid online "i payed them today via hydro.co.uk / debit card".

    Phone them up!

The OP disappeared within 10 mins of posting and doesn't seem to have come back since.

I hope they haven't been disconnected!
