ParkHolidaysUK

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what any of the Park Holidays sites are like? They seem to work out cheaper than Haven, Hoseasons, Butlins etc, and they have half board options too which look like they would save loads of money - does anyone have any experience of the half board option?

Any reviews of any particular sites gratefully received! I've run a few searches but haven't found much.

Thanks in advance :-)

I've booked Hoburne now, but I'd still be interested to know what the half board Park Holidays are like for future reference. Anyone know?

We went to the one in Borth (Mid-Wales) a week ago and it was ok. Apparently Park Resorts are/were part of Haven but the company split with Haven getting the bigger sites and Park the smaller ones so expect smaller scale than Haven, Butlins, etc.

The site we visited was perfectly acceptable, the caravan (Bronze standard) was clean and well equipped, there were plenty of children's activities (the Sparky's Krew Club song really sticks in you head after a few days!), there was entertainment at night which was ok, the pool was a decent size although the chute, which looked really good, was never opened during our stay. I think it was ideal for a three/four day stay but we'd probably have got a bit bored with more than that.

I'm not sure that there was a half-board option but the caravans have cookers and micro-waves and there was a Nisa convenience store just outside the site which sold reasonably priced food. Having said that we went on the Sun £9.50 offer so we always intended to self cater.

The site itself is called Brynowen and it's on the outskirts of Borth which is about five miles from Aberystwyth. Borth has an absolutely fantastic beach but other than that it's a bit quiet with not a great selection of pubs, restaurants, etc.

Thank you very much for the reply. That makes sense because the parks do look rather smaller than the Haven ones. That isn't always a bad thing tho is it, especially in the school holidays. I love Butlins but I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole in the holidays with all those queues!!

I think the Park Holidays half board option is available at some but not all of the parks. It could certainly save some money for us, because we hardly ever cook in the caravan - always say we will but always end up going out to eat in the end lol. I wonder what the places are like where you eat tho, and what the food is like.

Have only been to Whitley Bay through parks but have now been there about 7 times. Most caravans are privately owned and leased out through parks. Usually better quality of caravan compared with Haven etc entertainment is also just as good and food is good too

At the site we stayed at the 'restaurant' was so similar to a Wetherspoons if you didn't know better you'd have thought you were in a Wetherspoons! We ate there twice and to be fair, whilst it could have maybe been a little cheaper, the food was ok. The Sunday lunch in particular was quite decent.

I've just realised the sites you guys are talking about are Park Resorts, and I'm talking about Park Holidays UK lol :rotfl:
  • Which holiday company are you looking at as Park Resorts and Park Holidays are completely different companies, there is also Parkdean. We stayed at Park Holidays Chichester Lakeside holiday park and as we have a touring caravan most of our complaints will not really affect you but the one day the weather was good enough to use the outside swimming pool it was not open. We would not use them again.

Thanks for that, Fifi. Yes it's Park Holidays I'm talking about - they seem cheaper than most other places - probably a good reason for that though :(

We stayed at a Park Holidays UK site in Kent earlier this year. The caravan was of a very good standard, much better than I expected.
The only let down for us was the lack of childrens entertainment. We were there for a long weekend, and expected there to be something for the kids on the Friday and Saturday night. Unfortunately, the kids stuff seemed to only happen if the entertainment staff could be bothered, which was a shame.
