My laptop has now decided not to connect to the wireless router(netgear DG834G, it says it needs a IP address ?. I have found the IP address on the router, but where do i input this into the laptop settings.
The laptop has been on-line (once), but since then it won't connect, although it says it has a excellent signal ?.
Also i have disabled all security settings and access settings and it still won't connect.
Any help appreciated please.

have you rebooted the router?
have a look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=121274Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
when you disabled security, did you click apply.. the symptom you describe is usually a mismatched wpa key, but could be caused by wireless intererence (change channels).

you don't have to do anything with the ip address, try right clicking on the wireless icon and doing a repair.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
you will have to do somethingwith the IP address if you have turned of dhcp on the router. If this is the case then find out the ip of the router should be something like 192.168.x.1 where x is 1, 2 or 3 go into control panel select network connections. Right click on your wireless connection select properties. You should see a box at the top select tcp/ip and properties again. Fill out the boxes as following default gateway will be your routers address and so will prefered dns server in the subnet mask put 255.255.255.0 and in the IP address field put the same as your routers IP address but change he last number to 50 (just an example can be anything from 2-254)0

it may be that your laptop cannot assign its self a ip address from the router; try this.
Start>run>cmd>ipconfig/release>ipconfig/renew>
Check if it has worked using Ipconfig/all0 -
