I purchased a Buffalo 1 Gb USB flash drive recently for the job of transferring files from my old 98 laptop to my new desktop PC. On the pack it says it is Windows 98 compatible (drivers available from Buffalo website). Having looked up the model I have been presented with the words "no downloads available for this model"!
Anyone out there have a driver for Windows 98 for a USB flash (pen style) drive?
I have looked on Driversguide.com, but the downloads I have tried aren't compatible.
Its very frustrating (by the way, I have actually sent an email to Buffalo in the hope they might respond).
Thanks anyone for your help

have a look at http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads.php, your stick should be in the drop down list.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0

Yes thanks it is indeed in the drop down list - it is model number RUF-C1/U2 but unfortunately, when you go to the downloads page - you get the "no downloads available for this model" message.
By the way, I am running Windows 98SE.
Thanks

problem is there is no generic drivers for this kind of thing under windows 98.
as they don't seem to sell this stick in the states it is probably a rebadge of someone elses kit.
hopefully buffalo will respond as it says win98 is supported on their site.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

Hi angelavdavis
If you can't find the correct driver then you may be able to use a generic one.
There's one available from here:-
http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php
I used it when I was using an un-named flash drive with Windows 98SE.
It worked ok for me.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
What about trying this one? RUF-GP1G/U2 - FireStix RUF-GP1G/U2 (1GB)
It will either regognise the device or not, no harm trying! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Will give these a go tonight - thanks for your help - will report back.
