Bit of Fun:- Cat D or Cat C?
There are numerous arguments on here about the difference between a Cat D or Cat C write off.
I was browsing the Copart site and came across 2 cars one a D and one a C and I would be interested in which car folk thought was the shrewder buy.
Please assume photos are accurate and you have no further information. You might also want to think about what other hidden issues might affect your choice.

Surprised the CAT D isn't a C. I would buy neither as there is a whole lot of work that you can see from the rollovers (roof etc.) and more than you cant. Sometimes you only see on a jig that the complete shell is out of square with a high volume vehicle, it has lozenged over and that is not fun to fix.
Also, maybe not a good advert for the type of cars stability.0 -
the special mot they both have to go through is exactly same so id personally go far whichever was cheapest overall to get back on the road0

special MOT? That’s a new one on me, got a link?
Cat C cars need a VIC but as the name suggests that is identity only and nothing to do with roadworthyness.
Obviously the normal MOT rules apply in that they will need one if they are more than three years old, any MOT gained before the accident will be valid up to its normal expiry date.0 -
The point I was hoping to get across was that the Cat was fairly arbitrary. As far as I can see the Cat C in this instance looks the more straightforward and hopefully cheaper option.0
