Hi
We used Halewood, hifx.co.uk, but there are others (currencies4less.com springs to mind, try Google).0 -

You will get a better exchange rate than going through your bank and this makes a big difference when you have a lot of money to transfer. There is a charge, but I think it varies depending on what amount of money you wish to transfer, but when the exchange rate can make a difference of several hundres pounds (or even thousands), this is easily absorbed.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Forgot to say, it can be a bit of a faff opening an account (sending certified ID and so on), so make sure you do it in good time.
I have been told that you can play one company's rate against another to ensure the best rate, but in some instances they only divulge spot rates to existing customers, which of course means opening accounts with more than one...
Good luck!0
