Disabled parent

Hi, I'm disabled & on DLA & incapacity. We've just had a baby daughter. My wife needs to get back to work asap as we have no money, and every where we look about what benefits we can receive to help with childcare & other costs, there doesn't seem to be a section about 1 disabled parent & one working.
Is there anything that anyone knows about?
Cheers
Dom
Tax credits do work mine was in my account before I had my first wage!
Also, why have a baby when you can't look after it either physically or financially????Beth0 -

Hi OP
Were in a similar situation to you, my hubby is disabled( neurological condition) and we have 2 kids,, and he had to give up work, claims DLA, ESA , and we looked at all the options, went to see a CAB worker ie me giving up work etc, claiming for carers allowance, income support etc but decided for me to keep at work, we would be better off financially and for me better off mentally, as I dont think I could be a full time carer.
We also have my mum living with us too who needs care. Luckily my brother is out of work at the mo so he gets carers allowance to help out when I am at work.
It depends on how much your wife earns as to how much Working tax/ child tax credits you get, so maybe go and see someone at CAB to get it looked at and make sure you are getting all you are entitled to.
Have you contacted your local social Services? Maybe you can get some direct payments to help with things when your wife is at work?
Good luck with it, its not easy is it, especially with a young baby.

It's funny that I saw this today as the past few days I've been searching on information on being a disabled parent, but all I can find is being disabled or being a parent of a disabled child.
Me and my hubby are hoping to start a family soon but we want to find out all we can on help provided both financially and from docs etc about if my health problems could affect the pregnancy or birth...
It's so strange having to do it like that and not just going ' lets try for a baby'
never how I imagined it to be for me.
How are you enjoying being a daddy...sorry I'm offering no information but just wanted to say hi and thanks for posting and yeah...
xExcuse my lack of punctuation I have no shift key.
My meds make me a bit loopy so sometimes I say things that make no sense or can't think of words0 -
