Thanks Spud, so am I stuck with the likes of BT rather than Plusnet then?

No, you can still get dozens of different providers, you just won't be able to get the cheap headline deals.

e.g. for Plusnet, put your details into,

http://www.plus.net/ and see what price they come up with.

Don't be fooled by the marketing of some ISPs. They often use the term "wireless Internet" and mean that they give you a wireless router. With your existing wireless router you can have "wireless Internet" with any ADSL provider.

Nope these are "Actual" wireless Broadband networks!

Using WiMax network nodes in an area to provide ISP Broadband coverage without wires.

There's only a few providers in a few select locations.

They are NOT talking about the wireless routers you get from an ISP...

Thanks Spud. I tried the Plusnet link, but it says that says it's a wireless router. My work laptop's security won't accept wireless connection - I need to manually connect it via a cable into a router or phone line. That was why I was originally thinking of the BT home hub.

Wireless routers have ethernet connections too, in 99% of cases.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it
