Omg, i could actually through this thing! LOL :rotfl:

I got an ipod yday, 2nd hand off my oh's friend - very MSE! :j My oh didnt want me messing with his itunes library and mixing our music up, so i created a play list and synced my music onto my ipod very easily, done. However, oh came to add some music onto his ipod, to realise that all my music id added into my playlist had gone into his library, so he deleted them! Hes asked me to set up my own itunes library on the PC as not to get messed up again - i agree.....

So, ive found out how to create a new library, held down the shift key whilst opening itunes, created a new library, saved it to my file on pc, put all my music into my nice new fresh itunes, and now my music wont go onto ipod! Ive managed to delete all my music off my ipod (grrrr!) and now i have loads of albums in my itunes library and for some reason wont sync to my ipod :( most upset.

Im brand new to the ipod game (like yday!), but think ive done well so far to create a new library! Please help me, im tearing my hair out with it - why do apple make the thing that should be soooo easy to do, soooooo complicated???!!!

Your music should be in your itunes folder inside your my music folder, then import it into your itunes library, it should sync then.

ive found that iTunes doesnt handle different librarys very well and... like a child... can be very easily confused, I would have suggested that you create your own user on the PC, open up itunes, have all your music in a different account and then do what the last post said, put all you music into "my Music" then itunes will import it for you and you dont have all the headaches of conflicting music :)

    snorted :D

Ok, firstly, please forgive me fro being a pleb!

And secondly, why do Apple make itunes so difficult, and non user friendly to their customers!

Right, as initially posted my OH and I have an ipod each....i made 2 itunes libraries so that our music wouldnt be mixed up....I wouldnt end up with heavy metal and random music, and he wouldnt end up with girly music on his!

So, things have been going swimmingly for a couple of months, apart from once, when OH forgot to choose a library and just opened itunes and ended up with his ipod in a bit of a mess. Anyway, Ive opened my library tonight and some songs from some albums have the horrible dreaded exclamation marks next to them! Why oh why does it god damn do this? ANd the songs are on my computer, so why cant it find them?! And do i really have to go through every individual song to locate the bl**dy file??!

    Please someone help :)

    TIA

do exactly what you did the first time but create 2 playlists one for him and one for you, before you add all your music to the library add all his music to his playlist (could be the whole library), then add your music to the library and add the new music to your playlist, tell him to only sync his playlist and you only sync yours. When each of you buy new music just add it to the respective playlist, also the same music can be added to both playlists.

all functionality will be exactly the same for both of you and he will notice no difference in the music on his ipod.

if all your songs are in known folders then go File>add folder to library and select where all your music is that will add that will re add all the music to the library.

if the exclamation marks are still there (like you have 2 of the same song one working and one broken) then just delete the broaken ones (you can use shift or ctrl click to select multiple tracks)
